Crossing The Chasm

Jesus is the one who crosses the chasm between heaven and humanity, rescuing sinners from hell. In Jesus' parable, the rich man's inability to show mercy to Lazarus on earth created a great chasm between them in the afterlife. However, the ultimate truth is that God's Word (Moses and the prophets) is sufficient to bridge the chasm between Jesus and others. The Word has the power to work daily repentance in believers and bridge the gap between Jesus and non-believers. Believers now have the advantage of seeing the risen Jesus through the fulfillment of Scripture, and they are forgiven through the Word, enabling them to stand without fear at the final judgment.
