Free Indeed (Reformation)

In this sermon for Reformation Sunday, true freedom comes only from Jesus Christ; all alternatives are slavery to sin. True freedom is found in abiding in His Word (John 8:31) and being made like Him, which is the realization of true humanity (1 John 3:2). This freedom is a gift, not an earned reward, and it is experienced right now, not just in the future. By His sacrifice on the cross, Christ has rid us of the sin that makes us slaves, allowing us to find our true identity as saints—holy and completely forgiven. This freedom brings the certainty of salvation and the comfort of eternal life and reunion with family (John 8:36).
